Arriving home from his work at a steel fabrication plant, Levi finds his pregnant wife dead in their room, his newborn daughter Allie survives the incident. This should bring him some comfort however he would rather have his wife. Living in near poverty and responsible for a newborn baby and a seven-year-old Madi who, like her dad, still hasn't dealt with her mother's death, Levi can't afford to be away from work for long. And in the south, it's hard to get someone to watch a newborn baby. With his back against the wall and time running out Levi agrees to borrow money from a good-old-boy Daryl. Levi can now get back to work, but he has a loan shark he must pay back, or risk losing everything. He also has to forgive his youngest daughter, help his older daughter navigate loss, and ultimately accept his wife's death. But he can't do it alone.
